Here are some useful tips for putting on a successful event:
- Make the most of the internet and email, and don’t forget social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. They’re excellent for spreading the word about an event to friends and their friends.
- think about setting up a personalised page at BT MyDonate. It’s a really easy way for people to sponsor you and add Gift Aid to their sponsorship, and it saves you the need to bank what has been raised. Also you can include the link in your social media posting or email. Email us if you need help with this.
- If you want any promotional materials (e.g. collection tins or displays) please contact us.
No one likes feeling poorly. Please be aware of allergies people may have and take great care when handling food and work to basic hygiene rules for safe preparation, cooking, storage and display food.
Health and Safety
It’s all about common sense. Follow the professional advice of equipment manufacturers and staff supervising any facilities. Carers Trust Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk cannot accept liability for any loss, damage or injury suffered by you or anyone else, as a result of taking part in a fundraising event.
Make sure any electronic or paper records you keep about people involved in a fundraising event complies with the Data Protection Act. As a rule of thumb, don’t keep information about people any longer than you have to, and don’t share information (including photos of individuals) or data about someone without their permission.
Raffles and lotteries
Raffles and draws held at an event you are running are fine. However, there are strict and complex laws relating to raffles and lotteries held in public places or made available to the public in general, so we’d recommend contacting your local authority before holding one of these events and before your spend money on getting tickets printed. Some events you might not think of as lotteries, such as duck or balloon races, are covered by lottery laws.
