Groups and Clubs

We run six fortnightly Saturday clubs. They take place at Castle School, Cambridge; Bargroves Centre, St.Neots; and Highfields School, Ely for children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and other learning and physical disabilities.

Cambridge Groups

Sunshine Yellow (age 5-11 years)

This specialist group offers children a safe, caring and fun environment in which they are able to flourish.  Activities include art and crafts, outdoor play, sensory stimulation and cooking.

Saturday Club – C3 (age 11-19 years)

This specialist group offers activities led by its members and staff, focusing on independence and social skills, including trips out to shops, leisure activities, using public transport, home skills and cooking.

Sunshine Blue (age 5-11 years)

This group is for children who do not need to access specialist services, enabling them to enjoy a safe and fun environment in which to build on their social development.  Activities include art and crafts, team building games and outdoor play and cooking.

Saturday Club – C2 (age 11-19 years)

This group is for children who do not need to access specialist services, the group is led by its members and staff and focuses on independence and social skills, which may include trips out to shops, leisure activities, using public transport, home skills and cooking.

St Neots Stars (age 8-19 years)

This specialist group is run at the Bargroves Centre St.Neots for children and young people with autism, other learning and physical needs. The group is attended fortnightly and offers a safe and caring environment for those living in Huntingdonshire. The group activities are designed to enhance a range of skills and encourage choice, socialisation and independence.  The direction of the group is led by the young people together with the staff team and includes trips out to shops and local amenities, leisure activities, sensory and art activities, home skills and cooking.  The group runs for three hours on alternate Saturday mornings.

Ely Rainbow Group (age 5-19)

This specialist group is run at Highfield Special School for children and young people with autism, other learning and physical needs.  The group offers a safe and caring environment for those living in East Cambridgeshire and Fenland, with activities designed to enhance a range of skills and encourage choice, socialisation and independence.  The direction of the group is led by the young people together with the staff team and includes trips out to shops, leisure activities, using public transport, home skills and cooking.

The group runs for two hours (10am-12pm) every other Saturday morning during term time.

How to apply for a place

The number of places available varies from group to group and places must be booked in advance.

Referrals to all the groups are made via the Cambridge County Council Contact Centre Children & Young People’s Services rather than through us. They will discuss with you the eligibility criteria and funding for the appropriate group.
