NYCF ‘Young Carer Friendly Tick’ Award

From the very beginning of the Forum, one of the main aims has been to work to improve support for young carers and young adult carers in schools, college and universities across Norfolk.

Based on feedback from young carers and young adult carers across the county, Forum members have worked to write the NYCF ‘Young Carers Friendly Tick’ Quality Standards for schools, colleges and universities.

The idea is to have a set of standards that make a real difference in terms of identification and support for young carers in Norfolk, whilst at the same time being achievable for the schools, colleges and universities.

When the forum receives completed applications, it is down to a panel of forum members to read and assess applications and decide whether enough has been done for the award to be given.

Awards last for 2 years, at which point award-winners will need to submit an update to show how they are still meeting the standards.

The Standards

These 5 standards are drawn directly from the work of young carers and have then been consulted on with workers and professionals.
